Team Spotlight Blog: Meet Hollaway's Associate Communications Specialist, Amiah Williams

Amiah Williams is an Associate Communications Specialist at Hollaway Environmental + Communications Services, Inc! In her role, Amiah supports the team on a variety of projects. With four years of communications and event planning experience, Amiah has a range of expertise in public relations, digital marketing, communications, and public engagement. She is a budding expert in social media strategy, collateral creation, digital marketing, media relations, and brand awareness.

In 2022, Amiah received her Bachelor of Arts in Strategic Communications with a focus in Public Relations with a minor in Marketing and a Certificate in Corporate Entrepreneurship from the University of Houston in 2022. While in college, she was a member of the Public Relations Student Society of America.

Prior to Hollaway, Amiah worked as a Public Relations Specialist for Valenti Integrated, a student-run integrated communications agency. In this role, Amiah managed clients like the UH Black Leadership Network, Wonderworks, and the Alzheimer’s Association. She curated digital media content and strategies, created and implemented communications and public relations plans, and identified clients’ needs through market research and analysis.

“What I enjoyed most about this role was the creative freedom I had to showcase my skills to create, and implement, key communications strategies and tactics,” Amiah says.

Amiah’s journey with Hollaway began in January of 2022 when she came on as a Communication Assistant Intern.

“The number one thing I appreciate about Hollaway is the opportunity to learn, be active and be hands-on with so many different clients and projects. No two days are the same. I love that I have the capability to perform an array of tasks and learn so much from the people I work with every day,” says Amiah.

Since joining Hollaway, Amiah has contributed her critical thinking, strategic planning, and strong communication skills to the team. With the willingness to grow her skills in this field, she has had the opportunity to work with many clients including the Harris County Flood Control District, METRO, Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), the Harris County Engineering Department, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and the City of Houston.

When Amiah is not working, her favorite things to do are read and watch historical documentaries. She loves traveling to amusement parks and trying new food! She can also be found spoiling her fur babies or doing hair as a part-time hairstylist.

Like Amiah, so many members of the Hollaway team start as rockstar interns and turn into full-time superstars.
