At Hollaway, it’s important to us to maintain a positive and healthy workplace culture. Our company values, Significance, Courage, Accountability, Leadership, and Empathy or S.C.A.L.E., allow us to execute our work to a high standard and prioritize our team's mental and physical health along with their personal and professional development. As a human-centered organization, we are intentional about creating spaces for our team, our humans, to thrive. In practice, it means we make a conscious effort to discuss and instill diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging, also known as DEI+B, at every level of our organization.

For example, we offer a floating holiday to allow employees to celebrate culturally significant holidays that are meaningful to them as individuals. We know that everyone on our team has a different experience. Their unique culture is reflected by having time off to observe the holiday of their choice. We intentionally share DEI+B presentations centered on unconscious bias education and other topics important to our staff. We are so proud of the Hollaway Monthly Wellness Program, which allows staff to take advantage of wellness and mental health resources of their choosing. By providing these opportunities to our team members, we help ensure that we cultivate an environment where all can grow and thrive together.Hollaway employees reviewing a document

When we uphold our company values and are open to supporting one another, we ensure that our team can be productive and successful. It is imperative to team morale that we celebrate our individual and collective wins within our respective departments: the Environmental Team, Communications Team, Operations, and Creative Services. Just as Hollaway wins big projects and delivers strong work products to our clients, we are committed to that same level of intentionality when it comes to staff experience. With a foundation of prioritizing, encouraging, and facilitating effective and transparent communication among our team, our goal is to create a psychologically safe space for our team.

Like many organizations, employee retention is an essential indicator of organizational health. We retain our amazing staff members and teammates by empowering our team to provide feedback on our company’s practices and culture in good faith without fear of negative consequences or retaliation. Our team’s employee feedback has given us significant insight into our needs and strengths. The exchange of valuable ideas allows the Hollaway Team to evolve and grow. It is a crucial part of creating space for our staff in the decision-making process and to continually evaluate our company culture and atmosphere.

In addition to our internal work, Hollaway knows that DEI+B extends beyond the walls of our office. We consistently seek out opportunities to be of service to communities throughout the Greater Houston area. We become culturally better service providers in serving communities outside of the ones we belong to. As we gain insight through the individuals we serve during volunteer initiatives, we better understand their communities' needs, concerns, and values. These skills and experiences can then be applied to our work and daily lives.

Whether providing options on ways to get physically active, giving information on recreational activities happening in Houston, or planning events for team members to socialize, we want our team to know their physical and mental well-being is important to our company. The cultivation of a healthy team has resulted in Hollaway being leaders in our field and we’re excited to continue prioritizing these initiatives for a hopeful future.
